How much energy can a destratifier save?

Destratifiers reduce heating costs by redistributing warm air trapped at the ceiling down to the floor, lowering the workload of your heating system. Consider a heated space with an annual bill of €1,500. Without a destratifier, heat distribution is uneven, with hot air at the top and cold air at the bottom. By using the Williwaw fan-destratifier, the air is circulated, reducing the need for excessive heating. How to choose the right destratifier?

To choose a destratifier, consider the type of fan that matches your needs (cooling a small room vs. wider air distribution). How to assemble your Williwaw destratifier?

Assembly is simple and only takes a few minutes. Here is a summary of the key assembly steps:

Open the box and prepare all components: triangular piece, cable reel, recycled paper shell, weight, elastomer foot, wooden leg segments, white cylinder with orange rings, and cable blocker.
Unroll 1 meter of cable and feed it into the weight and through the orange ring, then into the wooden leg segment down to the weight.
Thread the cable through the white cylinder and the additional wooden leg segments, ensuring the segments are properly bored.
Connect the cable to the socket at the bottom of the leg mounting well and thread the remaining wooden leg segments, aligning carefully and tightening the orange rings.
Assemble the Williwaw pivot, adjust the orange rings, and mount the wooden structure by aligning the grooves with the ring ribs.
Install the orange stiffeners under the cable and into the wooden leg segments, pushing them in until they hit the middle stop.
Finalize the assembly by placing the triangular shelf, additional weights, and elastomer foot; download the Williwaw app and recycle the packaging.

How to maintain your destratifier?

Unplug your Williwaw and set the head to a horizontal position
Using a coin, press and turn the lock to release the grille. Give it a light tap to pop the grille out of its housing
Remove the grille by rotating the coin and the notch at the top of the Williwaw head, then lift off the protective grille
Unscrew the orange part clockwise and remove the washer and the blade
The Williwaw blade and grilles are dishwasher safe
Once clean, slide the blade back into place and position the washer with the cone facing down
Screw the orange part counter-clockwise, then replace the grille by starting from the bottom to slide it into its notch
Check that the grille is fully seated and, using a coin, press and turn the lock to secure the grille

What is a destratifier?

A destratifier is a ventilation device designed to homogenize the indoor temperature of a room by reducing air stratification. It works by mixing the warm air trapped at the ceiling and pushing it downward, allowing for a uniform distribution of heat or coolness. This device is particularly useful in large spaces or rooms with high ceilings, improving thermal comfort and reducing energy consumption related to heating or air conditioning.

Where should a destratifier be placed?

Usually, a destratifier must be installed on the ceiling, in the center of the room or in a strategic spot where air stratification is most significant.

Since Williwaw is both a fan AND a destratifier, you simply need to point it toward the ceiling to enjoy its effects.

Note that Williwaw also works for living spaces with very high ceilings. If you opt for classic ceiling-mounted models, you would need to choose one equipped with an extension rod to adjust the height, optimizing efficiency based on the ceiling height and ensuring better air circulation throughout the area.

Where should you place a Williwaw destratifier when you have a mezzanine?

Williwaw can be placed at the bottom or top of a room; the key is to position it within the air flow “circuit” to push the warm air accumulating at the ceiling back down along the walls.

How many destratifiers are needed per room?

The number of destratifiers required per room depends on the size of the space, the ceiling height, and the efficiency of the chosen model. For most standard residential rooms or offices, a single high-quality, correctly sized destratifier is enough to ensure uniform distribution of warm or cool air. In larger spaces or complex layouts, multiple units may be necessary to achieve the desired effect.

What is the difference between a destratifier and a fan?

The main difference between a destratifier and a fan lies in their operation and purpose. A destratifier aims to homogenize the temperature in a room by moving warm air from the ceiling downward, while a fan creates a cool airflow to refresh occupants without necessarily changing the thermal distribution of the space. Fans can be used to create a breeze or lower the perceived temperature, whereas destratifiers work on air distribution to improve general thermal comfort. Williwaw does both; you simply choose the orientation.

How to cool a room without AC?

To cool a room without using air conditioning, set your Williwaw fan to summer mode to create a cool airflow and increase evaporation on the skin, which lowers the perceived temperature. Opening windows during the cooler hours of the day or at night to let fresh air in, and using blinds or curtains to block direct sunlight, can also help naturally reduce the indoor temperature.
